At the holiday season more than any other, I often find myself overwhelmed and exhausted. Here in New York, the month of December can often feel like one long slog of holiday parties, work events, school functions and traffic.
And like just about any other working woman, the thing I sacrifice the most at this time of year is myself.
It’s of critical importance, however, that we engage in self-care at this time of year, because as my friend Elena Lipson often reminds me, if we don’t show up for ourselves, it’s really, really hard to be at our best for everyone else.
That’s why this week, I’m offering you some FREE resources on how to engage in self-care this holiday season.
So maybe you’ve had this experience from time to time:
You had a big vision.
You’ve put in a lot of effort.
You’ve struggled and you’ve figured things out and you’ve overcome obstacles.
And then, in what seems like a sudden moment, everything clicks into place.
One after another, like dominos, things that once stood in your way begin to tumble.
You’ve got the wind at your back.
You feel supported everywhere.
Money is flowing.
And you KNOW you’re going to succeed– maybe even beyond your wildest dreams.
It’s a great place to be, right?
So why, then, do so many of us take that moment as the moment to start wondering when the other shoe is going to drop?
Perhaps you, like me, are having one of those weeks where your to-do list is OUT. OF. CONTROL.
This week alone, I’ve had over fifty things I needed to accomplish on any given day, and at last count, I was receiving somewhere in the range of 300+ emails a day.
Combine that with coaching clients, meeting with my PR team, meeting with my web designer, taking my daughter to school, and cramming in time with my family whenever I can, and it’s enough to spin anyone into overwhelm.
So how do I handle it?
I’ve got a couple of life-altering strategies that make it all possible. Read on.
In the last few weeks, I’ve been getting a lot of requests for details on how I stay organized and on top of my game, while running two growing businesses and being the primary breadwinner for a family of four, with two kids under the age of three.
Trust me, it’s not easy. And without technology, it would be impossible.
Every day, on top of coaching my clients, managing the launch team for 40 Percent and Rising, and doing a whole slew of other things to propel my businesses and my family forward, I also manage our money, schedule our lives, and deal with every day mundane things like (ahem) taxes– which incidentally are due today if you filed for an extension for 2013!
And so, this week, I thought I’d share with you my favorite apps and resources for keeping my life in order every day. Some of them are total lifesavers. All of them will help you to stay on top of your game, too.
Here they are. Enjoy.
